Any of you can organize GOKON party. First, make a call to one of your friends - a female friend, if you are a boy and a male friend for a girl. Then casually say to the friend, "Hey, how have you been? ...Well, I'm thinking, maybe we can have a party with my friends and your friends together..." If both of you agree on GOKON, you need to check the number of the guest to ensure that boys and girls are same numbers. Probably a group of three boys and three girls is the best to find a nice bar and have a comfortable communication with all of them. Once the date and the place are decided, both organizers of male and female arrange the required number of boys and girls.

発起人は男でも女でも構いません。異性の友人に突然電話かメールをします。大概の場合、「おー、久しぶり！ 元気にしてた？ あのさー、突然だけど、オレの友達連中たちと飲み会しない？」とカジュアルな感じで切り出します。そこで、この突然の提案が成立した場合、参加人数を確認します。合コンの場合、男女の人数を同じにするのが大原則。ちなみに、場所を探すのにもみんなの円滑なコミュニケーションを図るのにも３対３がベストです。その後、日時と場所が決まったら、互いに同性の友達を誘い人数を揃えます。

Finally comes to the day, all the members get together at the venue with excitements and expectations. Kick off the first stage with introducing yourselves, as boy's team and girl's team meet each other for the first time. This is an important session to leave your good impression and also to check your potential target of the night. It may be essential to let people guess your age or profession as a quiz style. Talking about something you are good at, such as sports or cooking, could be also good to impress the people. Try to remember the name of the members before you get too drunk; if there are too many to remember, use a wrapping paper of chopsticks, provided in the most bars and restaurants, to take a note.

さて、当日。緊張と期待を胸に合コン会場へ。電話で話したふたり以外は、男女互いに初対面のはず。そこで、自己紹介。実はこれ大事なポイント。小粋なトークで、異性のハートをつかみましょう。たとえば、年齢や職業をクイズ形式にしたり、スポーツや料理の腕など嫌みじゃない自慢をするのもいいのではないでしょうか。もちろん、今夜のターゲットに目星をつけておくこともお忘れなく。そして、自分が酔っぱらう前に異性全員の名前を必死で覚えましょう。自信がない人は、箸袋にメモをとって。

When everybody gets quite comfortable with the help of drinks, then the party moves onto the next stage - time for fun game. One of the most popular games for GOKON is "who is the king" ("OHSAMA GAME" in Japanese). Prepare a set of sticks (usually use the disposable chopsticks from the bar) for the number of the members. Mark the "king" on one of the sticks and numbers for the rest of them. Then let everybody pick a stick for each, without looking at the marks. The person, who picks "king" gets the right to select one or some persons by the numbers and order them to do whatever the king wants. For instance, king orders the number 2 to carry a teriyaki chicken to the number 3's mouth, or something sexier one, such as the number 1 to kiss the number 4. That may end up with a freak show of two boys... or may be good chance to kiss your favourite.

程よく酔っぱらったら、次のステージへ。楽しいゲームの時間です。ここでは、いくつかあるゲームの中で、定番の“王様ゲーム”をご紹介。割り箸を人数分集めます。それぞれの箸の端っこに「王」という文字と、１から順番に番号を書きます。その文字が見えないように、みんな１本ずつ箸をとります。そして「王」を引いた人は、番号を指定して自分の好きな命令ができるわけです。例えば「２番が３番に焼き鳥を食べさせてあげる」というものから「１番と４番がキス！」というちょっぴりオトナなことまで。気になるあの人の唇を狙うチャンスでもありますが、男同士の悲劇的な接吻を拝む可能性も。

If those sessions in the first bar go well, probably someone suggests moving to the next place. If nobody suggests another drink, that naturally means the end of the party. Remember, "See you again" in this kind of the end means "I won't probably see you again" - it's a nice and shy Japanese way. However most of members are still up for more fun, it would be big chance to approach the guy/girl you fancy with. There are a few options for the second place, however Karaoke is the one of the most majour place for GOKON. As most karaoke places are private rooms in Japan, you can get closer to your target and share a deeper time. Take the opportunity to show your singing skill and impress your target with your special song.

もし、ここまででしっかり盛り上がっていたら、居酒屋を出てから「みんなでカラオケに行こう！」という展開になります。しかし、互いのフィーリングが合わないと誰もそんな提案はせず、「じゃあ、またの機会」とそこでおしまい。さすが日本人、“またの機会”で再び会うことはありません。何たって個室ですから、カラオケに行ったのならビッグチャンスの到来です。暗い中でさらに騒ぎ、さらに飲むので、もう何だかよく分からないフェス状態になることも。もうこうなったら、気になるあの子の隣でスペシャルソングを歌ってしまいましょう。

Finally it comes to the last stage. Official GOKON party comes to finale around 3am and there should be spare time until the public transport starts working. It is totally up to you that how you would complete the night. Maybe you can whisper to your target for another drink with just two of you after karaoke. Or maybe you can skip the drink and take her/him to your home or LOVE HOTEL. But if you end up as a looser, you couldn't find any special friend except alcohol and wake up alone on the street next morning.

恐らくここまできたら、夜中の３時頃あたりにはなっているでしょう。もはや帰る電車はありません。でも、カラオケで「もう一軒ふたりきりで飲まない？」という内緒の約束をしていれば、解散した後にふたりで朝まで飲むということもあり。いきなりあなたの部屋やラブホテルに直行→一夜のアバンチュールを楽しむ、という人もいるでしょう。もちろん、はしゃぎすぎて、路上で爆睡して翌朝寂しく起床する敗者になることも。 さて、これで合コンの手順はばっちり。あとは実践あるのみです！ 今週末は誰を呼びますか？
